The medical world are trying new methods of surgery to help obese patients reduce body weight without doing surgery. Instead of using a scalpel, this new method of using such a pipe is inserted through the esophagus into the stomach.

Experiments conducted by a team doctor Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, USA, this is not the body forming operations, such as the tummy tuck or lipposuction. The purpose of this operation is to minimize the road in the intestine so that food will go into the stomach more slowly. As a result, the patient will feel full faster and eat less.

According to one team doctor, Dr. Gregg Nishi, initial testing of 200 patients in the U.S. and 100 patients in Europe showed promising results. In the 18-month period, obese patients who do these operations can lose weight up to 45 percent of original body weight.

The basic idea of this operation is similar to the binding operation to reduce the amount of intestine that food is digested and absorbed by the body. The difference, this new method does not change the size of the stomach, just change the route of food before it is digested.

Although the initial experiments did not find any complications, this surgical procedure can still be made to the public because the patient is still awaiting approval authorized agency. “The results of this operation is much better than the method of clamping the stomach we already know,” Nishi said.

According to team doctors, these methods mimic other types of operations through the open part of the body, such as nose, mouth, or vagina, without making any incision in the body. The aim is to reduce the risk of infection and pain and faster healing. With no scars, the benefits in terms of cosmetics will be available as well.
